British Standard Insurance Rated Locks

First Choice Locksmiths supply and install locks that comply to meet current insurance requirements. If you have wooden doors then your insurance provider will usually request a lock be fitted to BS3621 standards. Either a British Standard 5 lever Mortice lock (Chubb) or a British Standard Nightlatch (Yale).

Insurance providers may decline a claim if found to have the wrong standard lock fitted but may offer a discount on your insurance policy if the correct locks are installed. If you are not sure if your locks meet the criteria then a simple way to check is look for BS “kite mark” , this is usually stamped on the face plate of the lock.
